Our 2027 Residencies offer three people the opportunity to spend an extended period living and working at Ambios. You’ll gain practical experience across farming, livestock, agroforestry and nature recovery projects, work alongside experienced practitioners, and become part of our residential learning community.
Accommodation and food are provided, and residents can also choose to join the Level 3 or Level 4 Diploma in Regenerative Land-Based Systems with the Apricot Centre.
There will be three spots available for this placement, and all residents will share the same broad role. The residency is voluntary. It is not an employed position and does not carry a salary.

The work will change through the seasons and according to the needs of the farm, residential programme and current nature recovery projects. Residents will spend time across four main areas.
The farm and livestock enterprise is a core part of Ambios. Residents will contribute to the practical running of the farm and wider landscape. Activities may include:

Ambios is developing a growing portfolio of nature recovery work. Residents will have the opportunity to contribute to projects alongside the staff leading them. Residents will work alongside project-funded Nature Recovery Officers, including the:
Ambios is also a residential learning environment. Residents play an important role in making that environment work. Together, the three residents will share responsibility for:
A key feature of the 2027 residency is the opportunity to access formal learning alongside practical experience.
You will spend your time in a nature recovery learning environment. Courses and workshops will happen at the farm throughout the year, delivered by the Ambios team of experts and specialists. These formal and informal learning opportunities are made available to you to engage with throughout the year.
Residents will also have the option to join the Level 3 or Level 4 Diploma in Regenerative Land-Based Systems, delivered by the Apricot Centre.
This course provides structured learning in areas including regenerative agriculture, soil, plants, livestock, agroforestry, water management and land-based systems.
Residents will be able to connect this formal learning directly with their practical experience at Ambios.
Course participation is optional and is an additional opportunity rather than a requirement of the residency.
A place to live at Ambios for the duration of the residency – your own sanctuary, outside the main accommodation hub.
Food is provided as part of the residential arrangement, including communal meals and shared food provision.
Hands-on experience across farming, livestock, horticulture, agroforestry, conservation and nature recovery.
Residents work alongside experienced Ambios staff and project officers and have opportunities to learn directly from practitioners.
Access to the Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Regenerative Land-Based Systems with the Apricot Centre is available as an optional part of the residency.
Residents become part of the wider Ambios community of staff, trainees, volunteers and alumni.

What matters most is curiosity, reliability, willingness to learn and a readiness to contribute to the community.

The work can be physically demanding and residents should be prepared for a varied, hands-on role.
There will not be a fixed weekly timetable.
Instead, the balance of work will change according to the seasons, farm and livestock requirements, Nature recovery projects, weather, residential courses, events, volunteer and trainee activities and individual development opportunities
A resident might spend one day helping with livestock, another supporting tree planting, another working alongside the agroforestry team, and another preparing the centre for incoming trainees.
Residents should expect to move between different parts of Ambios rather than being assigned to one particular project.
Individual interests and strengths can be developed over time, but the residency is deliberately generic rather than three separate specialist placements. This means residents can experience a much broader range of work and develop an understanding of how the different parts of Ambios fit together.
If you are accepted, you could expect to start on Monday 4th January 2027, and finish on 17th December 2027.
Your minimum weekly commitment is 4 days/week. Reasonable expenses (e.g. travel for work), as agreed with your line manager, will be covered.
A driving licence is beneficial, as is access to a vehicle.

Interviews will be held in person at Lower Sharpham Barton Farm on Wednesday 11th November or Thursday 12th November. We will let you know if you have been successful by Friday 20th November.
