Nature Conservation Volunteering

Volunteering with Ambios offers a unique opportunity for people to connect with nature, whilst making a useful contribution to the conservation of the South Devon Landscape. Our volunteers are mostly based at Lower Sharpham Farm, our organic farm in the idyllic Dart River Valley. Our volunteers will spend time in the open air, engaging with the natural environment, learning practical conservation skills and meeting like-minded people.

Our previous volunteer projects have ranged from organising a series of ‘citizen science’ BioBlitz 24-hour wildlife surveys across Devon, to using emerging ‘eco-therapy’ to help young people experiencing mental distress. Our regular volunteering opportunities can be found below. Ad hoc volunteering events also happen from time to time. Follow us on Facebook or Twitter if you want to keep informed.

Volunteering Opportunities

Weekly Volunteering

Every Thursday

Every Thursday we host a volunteer day at Lower Sharpham Farm, where volunteers can contribute to the day to day running of our organic farm which is managed for bio-diversity.  You will experience what it’s like to feed and move the animals, harvest the apples, help build a fence or gather material for a big outside fire.  Come and join in the fun and feel great after a day in the great outdoors.

Residential Volunteering

Placements from 2 weeks to 3 months.

As a residential volunteer with Ambios you will get involved in a variety of nature conservation activities on our organic farm managed for biodiversity.  During your stay you will become a part of the Ambios community, living and working with a team of fellow volunteers, trainees and wildlife professionals. You will be totally immersed in the beautiful rural landscape of South Devon, whilst learning new skills and meeting new people.
