Would you like to upgrade your wildlife survey and interpretation skills?  Join one of our work based training programmes in one of six EU countries to help you progress into a career in nature conservation.

  • Weekend UK residential – introduction to wildlife skills & mobility information
  • The mobility part of this course is funded by ERASMUS+

  • Participate in bird and mammal outreach, public engagement and science communication

The programmes

Places for our 15 week LONG programme have been filled for 2019. Limited places available for our SHORT programme!

Each programme is:

  • Weekend UK residential pre-mobility training with fellow participants
  • 35 hours of on-line interactive learning in your own time and at your own pace
  • A two week or 14 week practical experience with one of our European nature conservation partner organisations
  • 24 hour UK residential post mobility feedback

UK residential pre-mobility

Weekend residential will take place at Lower Sharpham Farm, our residential facility on the Sharpham Estate, set within the idylic Dart River Valley in South Devon. Here, you will build on your current skills  with practical wildlife focused activities, teamwork and communication skills.

Dates: 4pm Friday 17th to 12noon Sunday 19th May

You will gain:

  • Practical bird and mammal identification experiences
  • Skills to develop and deliver wildlife themed presentations, as part of a team
  • Knowledge of different cultures, languages and working practices
  • Time to prepare for your mobility experience, ask questions and gain answers
  • Opportunities to build your team-working, communication and leadership skills
  • Time to think about your personal goals for your European mobility time
  • Chance to expand your confidence, thinking and motivation
  • A supportive network for the future

On-line Interactive Learning

If your application is successful, you will have access to our on-line interactive learning environment, which will guide you through the learning you need to maximise your gain from the European mobility.

What topics will I cover?

Topics covered will include cultural and language awareness, nature conservation networks as well as practical guides to ecological survey and science communication skills.

How long will the on-line learning take? 

Your on-line learning will span the duration of your chosen programme. It will be a total of 35 hours and will be done in your own time and at your own pace before, during and after your mobility.

Will I receive any accreditation for this learning?

Yes. As you progress through this learning you will gain e-badges which will build over time to enhance your employability and culminate in an overall e-badge that has employer endorsements from both UK and EU hosts.

European Mobilities

Your weekend residential in UK will prepare you for your chosen programme abroad. This mobility will make up the bulk of your training where you will be working alongside one of our EU partners. For the 2 week (SHORT) placement, your mobility will be based in either Portugal, Hungary or Italy. For the 14 week (LONG) placement, your mobility will be based in either Poland, Spain, Portugal or Norway. SHORT programme: 2 week BIRDS related mobilities (BOOKING UP FAST – SOME PLACES LEFT)

LONG programme: 14 week BIRDS or MAMMAL related mobilities (PLACES FULL FOR 2019)

PLEASE NOTE: Ambios Ltd is committed to reducing the carbon footprint of all our operations. We will therefore explore with successful participants the practicalities of travelling to your Host by train (or bus) before we investigate air travel.  For some destinations, this could mean you travelling for over 24-hours.

Post European Mobility

Following your mobilities, we will be meeting in Devon for a one day celebration event. This will be where you will receieve your certificates of recognition for the practical skills you aquired whilst on your programme.
