1 Day Nature Taster

Overview

One day Nature Taster experience at Lower Sharpham Farm aims to provide an insight into surveying and identification techniques used in the nature conservation secor as well as offering an introduction to some of the projects running at our farm. Designed for those at the beginning of their conservation careers and ideal for University groups.  Topics covered include an introduction to Ambios and our network of partner organisations; badger surveys and TB vaccination; bird ringing; botanical surveys, foraging and plant ID; as well as winter woodlands and forest craft. The unique Ambios delivery style aims to couple scientific discipline with experiential learning so you will get a taste and an experience of nature conservation, and leave wanting more!

Attending a 1 day nature taster also qualifies you for significant saving on other Ambios experiences

Take it further

These tasters are aimed to give you a very basic introduction to Ambios’ work with nature and an insight as to pathways to starting your career, as well as how to get more involved. This might mean helping with our nature conservation projects including investigations into Badger (Meles meles) population/TB Vaccination Deployment, Bumblebee (Bombus terrestris) longevity, spatial and temporal use of the farm by bat populations, bird survey data recording and analysis or using trail cameras for public engagement. Data from these projects can contribute to your degree modules.  This may also lead you into a residential volunteer experience or further into one of our EU training projects.

In addition there will be an opportunity to discuss employment in our sector, Countryside Ranger jobs and how to get involved with further opportunities at Ambios.
