Volunteer at Our BioBlitz

Gain valuable experience in the nature conservation sector!

We are looking for volunteers to help at our annual BioBlitz here at Lower Sharpham Farm, Totnes. This 24 hour wildlife survey is a public engagement event run from 12:00 noon on Friday the 9th to 12:00 noon  Saturday the 10th June 2017.

It will be a fantastic opportunity to work alongside wildlife professionals and help contribute to a genuine scientific survey. You’ll also be working with adults with learning difficulties, families and young children.

It will also be a great opportunity to build up your CV and make useful industry contacts.


Your Involvement

We would need you to arrive on Thursday the 8th June – the evening before the event –  to help with tasks which include assisting with the running of wildlife activities for the public, including bird walks, small mammal trapping, nocturnal mammal talks, plant I.D, as well as marshalling and hospitality services.

There will be a talk from a wildlife professional on the evening of the 9th  June where you will have the chance to ask questions about their career path. This will be a fantastic learning experience if you are looking to break into a career in nature conservation!

Arrive: from 5 pm Thursday 8th June
Leave: from 3 pm, Saturday 10th June

Arriving by train?
We can pick you up from Totnes station at 5:30pm on Thursday 8th June.

There is a train from Exeter St Davids at 16:46 which arrives into Totnes train station at 17:16. There is also a train from Penryn at 15:04 which arrives into Totnes train station at 17:30.

Please let us know in advance if you would like picking up at this time.

Food & Accommodation

Camping and food are available, free of charge. Please bring your own tent and sleeping bag/roll mat etc, and let us know in advance if you have any special dietary needs.

There are toilets and showers on site.
