The Gulf of Honduras, where
Manabique is located, is an environment with many inter-linked habitats.
There are coral reefs, sea-grass beds, mangroves, estuaries and deep sand
and mud bays. During the reproductive cycle, many species drift as small
planktonic animals. Observing this movement is important for
understanding the biological connectivity between these areas. We collect
zooplankton samples with this net, and are starting to identify the common
species using our binocular microscope.
