Included in our oceanographic surveys is current measuring.  We do this by using a drogue, we put the drogue in at one point, mark it with the GPS (Global Positioning System), sail around for 15 minutes and then return to it, GPS marking it again upon pickup.

By measuring the distance between these two points we can then work out what the current is at this point.  We do this at position N1,N2, and N3.  We use weights with 1.5m and 15m lengths of rope, to measure the current at these two depths.
